Markit selected for Vulpes valuations

Vulpes Investment Management has chosen Markit to provide valuations, risk and scenario analysis on its portfolios.

Markit has recently expanded its portfolio valuations service to provide single platform valuations of over-the-counter and private equity investments, which includes unlisted equity and illiquid debt, scenario analysis and value at risk.

The Markit portfolio valuations service will assist Vulpes with its regulatory compliance and will ensure consistency across market data inputs and pricing models for mark to market and risk calculations.

Scott Treloar, chief risk officer of Vulpes, said that it has “increased [its] risk management and illiquid security valuation capabilities” by using Markit’s valuation system that “seamlessly interacts with [its] portfolio and trade management platform”.

He added: “This end to end workflow allows us to retire a number of legacy systems and simplify out internal processes, while enhancing the way we handle data and analytics.”

Managing director of Markit’s portfolio valuations, Padmesh Thuraisingham, is “pleased” to help Vulpes streamline its post-execution workflow. He said: “We can offer customers a straight through processing solution which spans trade confirmation, post trade valuations, risk management and illiquid asset pricing.”

“With increased regulatory and investor reporting requirements, one of the key challenges for financial institutions globally is to manage technology costs while ensuring accuracy and consistency of mark to market calculations.”
